They cared for their eggs for over a month when we began to worry whether anything had hatched. Then we discovered that only one dove was in attendance so perhaps her mate had died. She left the nest and we found two dead babies in the nest.

Learner Mum: we don't know if it is the same dove (they all look a like) but she now seems to have found a new partner and they have been searching for nesting sites. Two sites were found and rejected. In the end she laid her egg on a beam in the garage. It rolled off and smashed.
Will she try again? Think she needs lessons !

Manuden BirdManuden Birdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18351214941656005245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4202626720745011693.post-27037197920866887472010-05-21T17:19:00.000+01:002010-05-21T17:20:32.791+01:00Does anyone else have trouble with badgers digging up their lawn? Most of the tadpoles in the pond have developed - despite the frosty weather - and we are finding them in the greenhouse where they are doing a good job eating insects for us.

Manuden BirdManuden Birdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18351214941656005245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4202626720745011693.post-42895411816020485852010-05-08T16:07:00.000+01:002010-05-08T16:11:20.886+01:00Welcome to Manuden Countryside Blogspot.

This site has just be set up.
